Project Scope
- Fabrication and installation of 150 linear feet of data center security cage built to exact customer specifications
- Cage design and installation extended through the drop ceiling and tied into the slab above for full vertical security compliance
- Installation, wiring, and commissioning of integrated access control and security systems, including:
- Card readers, keypads, and biometric devices
- Door hardware (mag locks/strikes as applicable)
- Low-voltage control wiring and power circuits
- Integration with the facility’s existing access control platform

The Challenge
The work was performed inside an active data hall that remained fully operational throughout construction. Travel Safe had to install a highly customized security cage — built to exact specifications down to the millimeter — while maintaining clearances around live cabinets, structured cabling pathways, and tenant equipment.
The client required the cage to extend through the drop ceiling and anchor into the slab above, necessitating custom fabrication, precise field measurements, and real-time design adjustments. Any misalignment would have compromised both security compliance and constructability.
Additionally, access control installation required seamless integration with the facility’s existing security system, with zero interruption to ongoing tenant operations.
Our Solution
Travel Safe deployed a specialized team experienced in live data center construction and custom security installations. Prior to fabrication, our crew conducted detailed field verification to ensure millimeter-level accuracy for the cage footprint, ceiling interface, and slab tie-in points.
The cage was installed in phased segments to maintain safe access for existing tenants while minimizing congestion in the data hall. Where necessary, Travel Safe performed custom fabrication and on-site modifications to meet exact client specifications without delays.
In parallel, our electricians installed and energized all access control components, including readers, door hardware, and control wiring. We fully commissioned the system and validated seamless integration with the facility’s existing security infrastructure.
A dedicated onsite project manager coordinated closely with facility operations, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, scheduling constraints, and security requirements.
